Letter from P.M.B., Psychology License on file.
Letter dated July 27, 1995:

To Whom It May Concern:

For over five years, I have known and talked with John Waters. He is an insightful, original thinker who makes observations on the current social picture with perception and depth. His work should prove of interest to people in varied fields including medicine and the social sciences. He had difficult and unique experiences growing up. He has explained a number of the details of his life coping with multiple handicaps, including a disabling physical weakness, and his search for answers to the impediments to his full functioning.

For the time I have known him he has been in excellent physical health, attributing his well-being to this search and his findings. In addition to his own experience with emotional stress and physical illness, he has used his background in biology and mathematics to formulate his world view.

My contact with Mr. Waters has been enriching, and I have been continually impressed by the astuteness of his observations relating to the impact of human behavior and attitudes on the emotional health and potential for growth of our young. He has much to say about the nurturance of intellect and creativity in people of all ages, and with some apt criticism of the limiting effects of our educational/social structure as it exists. He has, in addition, an approach to physical wellness which has come out of his own history in recovering his physical health via a dramatic change in lifestyle.

His story should be of value on many levels to a wide spectrum of people.

Sincerely,

To whom It May Concern:
September 21, 1993

On April 22, 1993 John Waters gave a thirty minute talk on his independent research on spontaneous creativity and healing to my Cognitive Psychology (Psych 324) class on the Humboldt State University campus. Many of the students were receptive to John and the content of his presentation.

On May 13 he ran an informal test lasting twenty minutes. During this time my students listened to a cassette of his instrumental music and engaged in spontaneous drawing and writing. Mr. Waters then collected these papers and wrote a preliminary report which he gave to me a few days later.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN

I have known John Waters for several years. We have had numerous conversations, and I have read a number of his papers.

Mr. Waters is a very intelligent, creative and well-read individual who is not currently associated with any university and who has not earned any formal graduate degree. His "free-lance" status is due partly to difficulties in vision but mainly to autism and consequent difficulties in communication. He has made steady progress in the clarity of both his oral and written communications since 1 have known him.

M r. Waters is a person of great dedication and persistence. He continues to develop his ideas and is in need of responsive commentary from others regarding those ideas. While I cannot claim to understand all of his concepts and arguments, I do believe him to be attempting the very significant work of integrating rational and nonrational modes of cognition.

I hope that the reader of this letter will encounter Mr. Waters' work with an open and philosophic mind, since, as Socrates states:

The triumph of my art is in thoroughly examining whether the thought which the mind of the (young) man brings forth is a false idol or a noble and true birth.

This letter is to state that I have read the manuscript "The Equilibration Principle of Unified Field Theory" by John Waters and that it is my conviction that the paper should be published. I have talked with John Waters many times about his observations and interpretations and believe that others should have the opportunity to learn of his findings if for no other reason that they can conduct the necessary independent experiments to either validate or negate his propositions.

I can attest that Mr. Waters is a very intelligent and serious person that this study represents serious work on his part. His conclusions are far removed from my field of competence to evaluate the findings with any confidence but they seem to propose leads well worthy of following up.

I trust that you will give the manuscript every consideration and not reject it out of hand because of its non-traditional nature.

Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern,

I first met John Waters in 1981. He introduced me to his research at that time. During 1981, 1982 and 1983 Mr. Waters often came to visit me at my home. He interacted with my daughter and motivated her to express herself in her dancing, her art, her speech, her singing, in her play with toys and in her other physical activities.

In 1982 and 1983 Mr. Waters also worked with my daughter’s step-sister. He also interacted with several other young children in our neighborhood, giving each one special attention. The children responded individually to Mr. Waters and they enthusiastically welcomed his arrivals. However at this stage Mr. Waters wasn't able to formally introduce his research due to his inability to explain his own talent and work in modern scientific language. I believe he is prepared now to explain his work using contemporary language, and I recommend you consider employing Mr. Waters on a trial basis to see how effective he is in motivating your young child to spontaneously express his or her individual interests and special ability.
