Why Study the Divine?

John L. Waters June 2, 2005 ©Copyright 2005 by John L. Waters. All Rights Reserved ------------------------------------------------------ Why Study The Divine? Here are seven reasons: Reason one: The Divine, also called "The Reservoir of Pleasure" or "Sri Krishna" by the ancient Hindus, provides daily joy and sustenance to persons even though they don't consume excessively as people do in Western sci-tech cultures. More happiness with less consumption is the future way of human survival. When billions more people are happy eating less food, even more billions of humans can thrive as well. Reason two: Sensing the Divine is therapeutic. Sick people heal themselves and older people stay well by sensing the Divine. This idea is being tested by people already. More people need to test the idea under reputable supervision. Reason three: Without mastery the Divine affects a person so that he or she is emotionally and mentally unstable. Therapeutic treatments are expensive. Such mental illness makes leaders especially dangerous. To avoid future cataclysmic wars, all the nations need to step into this brave new world order. But novelist Aldous Huxley didn't get the method right. Reason four: Past Divine teachers have gained special favor, devotion, and reverence from all their devotees. Total mastery of the Divine turns a person to self-development, not to worshipping some other person. This is a revolutionary step! Reason five: Study of the Divine leads to the full integration of all faculties so that even the rational intellect becomes integrated with the Divine faculties. This total integration even cures the insanity that makes war. This liberates inspired humanity from the fetters of superstition and unreason! Reason six: The Divine brings a person total joy, so that he or she no longer feels any need to achieve more than others. This fullness enables many persons to pool their goods and share their tools, their talents, and their other resources, and not squander talent or other resources in competitive fury. At a time when human populations are increasing and natural resources are becoming scarcer, the study of the Divine is mandatory. Reason seven: Humans are truly becoming God-like, and so humans need to study wisdom and live in imitation of those few historical characters that people confused with God. To clarify this point, natural science now enables humans to plan the creation of new life forms, bring life to barren worlds in space, and even destroy whole species of Earth life! This is why the brightest people in all the nations need to apply science and master Divine Inspiration itself. Fear of this new science will cause the extinction of humanity. 11:45AM Thursday, June 2, 2005 John L. Waters
